Product used: | Panels |
Print method: | Silkscreen printing |
Problem
The name of the model on the scuff plate is different depending on whether the car is sold for domestic or overseas use. Need to avoid over/under stocking from having different names for domestic and overseas car sales.
Yamacs’ Proposal
Yamacs recommended replacing only the logo portion of the model name with metallic print (Cubee).
Solution
The metallic print goes well with the stainless steel of the scuff plate to give a fully integrated feel.
Result
The car manufacturer was able to prevent overstocking and relieve pressure on purchasing by ordering only the panels needed for each model after ensuring the same material needed for total number of cars in Japan and overseas.
Customer Feedback
We were able to get a low purchase price while maintaining the quality of appearance. (Designer)

Product used: | Transfer |
Print method: | Silkscreen printing |
Problem
The car manufacturer wants to decorate the dashboard. They were looking at a design in which a two-part molded product with a complicated shape is connected together. The manufacturer was unable to find a way to decorate the dashboard with the level of accuracy needed.
Yamacs’ Proposal
Yamacs recommended the use of a waterslide transfer.
Solution
First, we tested how easy it was to paste and how well the transfer conformed to the molded curved surface using a prototype. We then checked adhesion to the dashboard surface and performed physical property tests required for the interior of the car.
Result
We were able to decorate the molded product, something which was difficult to do with other techniques. We were also able to ensure accurate positioning thanks to the nature of the waterslide transfer.
Customer Feedback
The transfer method has made it possible to reproduce designs not normally possible with pad printing. (Designer)

Problem
Graphics on an off-road motorbike don’t last long due to the harsh conditions the bikes are used in.
Yamacs’ Proposal
Yamacs recommended to print graphics on the back of a highly-durable thick film.
Solution
Normally the layers of ink on a sticker wear away but by using a thick film the surface layer is less likely to deteriorate.
Result
We succeeded in producing a back print which sticks well and conforms to the plastic parts on a cubic curved surface and which is less likely to deteriorate from abrasion and chipping.
Customer Feedback
You gave us a great looking motorbike. We’ll roll this out to other models too! (Developer)
